Alice Marie (Nelsen) Kerk Born May 4,1930 Died February 28, 2021. She was born and raised in Bird City, Kansas and was the last surviving child of 8 from the family of Edwin and Hazel Nelsen. She worked as a hairdresser in Burlington, Co where she met and married John Kerk. They raised their family on the front range of Colorado, starting in Denver moving to Berthoud, Ft. Collins, then to Lakewood finally moving to Grand Junction. Alice is survived by her 4 children, Angella Clark, Arlo Kerk, Lynda Matson (Ed), Jay Kerk (Julie). 9 grand children and 8 great children who all shared in her love.
Alice had many hobbies and interests. Her favorite was spending time with family at Lake Powell where they owned a houseboat. She was always active in church including singing in the choir. With her beautiful voice, at the age of 18, she performed a solo A cappella at Phipps Auditorium in Denver. She was always an avid walker, even participating 2 times in the Bolder Boulder Marathon. She was always up for a challenge like learning to snow ski, swim (even though she was deathly afraid of water), ride a skateboard, or activities that stretched her limits. Even accomplishing some in her later years.
She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Being almost 91 she lived her life to the fullest.
Alice had many wonderful, loving friends and family and absolutely no enemies. She will be terribly missed by all. A life well lived!!
