Obituary for Briana Jean Barker

Briana Jean Barker (Bree) passed away at her home on March 24, 2019. Bree was born October 31st, 1978 in Sioux City, Iowa to Gerald Dean Barker and Linda Kay Powell, she was preceded in death by both of her parents. Bree is survived by her daughter, her pride and joy, Emily Taylor Jensen. Emily was the light of Bree’s life. Briana is also survived by her brothers Paul and Phil Cummings, Nathan and Jason Barker. Sisters Tonya and Elizabeth Barker and Patience Cummings.

Bree’s nieces and nephews include Nichole Ball, Cris Ray, Chayse Davis, Isaiah Privette, as well as numerous others that she loved so much. There are too many friends and those she thought of as family, to be able to name them all here, but you know who you are and how much she loved you. The family would like to send out a special Thank You to Briana’s lifelong friend and confidant Shanell Highline (Flynn) and her daughter Shyla for always being there, through the good times and the bad, you were her Soul Sister and her Rock, she loved you very much.

Briana graduated from Nucla High School, Nucla Co. Bree enjoyed an active lifestyle as a waitress and bartender in and around Grand Junction. She loved interacting with people and she was loved by everyone she met. Bree enjoyed spending time with her daughter, teaching her how to craft and paint. Emily will always remember her mom fixing her hair and making sure she had a beautiful dress for special occasions. Bree enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, having barbeques. planning birthday parties and entertaining her dog Molly. Bree was an amazing person, inside and out. She was artistic, witty and she had a wonderful sense of humor. Bree will be missed by all, for the light she brought with her wherever she went.

Open services will be held at Junction Community church, 2867 Orchard Ave, Grand Junction Co. on Tuesday April 2nd at 3:30pm. Rest in peace Briana Jean Barker you will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
