Give him a day and he would live it
Give him a challenge and he would win it
Hand him a problem and he would solve it
Hand him your heart and he would love it

David made me a football fanatic. All it took was seeing him tearing up the football field as a Midland Bulldog under Friday Night Lights. His passion for the game was contagious, just like so many things in his life. Kids of the fifties, what a place it was. It was more than football. There was the dancing, the music and the gardenias. Us kids of the fifties had the world and the energy to live every minute. David epitomized living every minute and he did this till the day he passed.

David fought many demons down through the years. As he grew and matured, he developed a strength and determination beyond anything I had ever expected. Each step he took along this road of life ended up helping somebody along the way.

After going our separate ways, I encountered grief and heartache on many occasions. He always popped up with the word of gentle wisdom. He found the right words to help a wounded soul.

When he told me he had cancer a few years ago, I had no doubt this feisty, fearless, fifties boy could beat down this demon. In many ways, he did beat it and his strength grew at every hurdle.

A year ago, I met the cancer enemy myself. My precious daughter needed a big strong shoulder and she contacted David. Out of that developed a wonderful friendship between David and Erin. He was just what she needed. His devotion to my problem was so special and I will never forget that.

Two fifties kids still friends, older, wiser and sicker. So thankful for such a friendship.

Gwen, bless you so much. You are in my thoughts and I want you to take care of yourself. Dana, Sandra and Roena, you have been family and it was a lucky day I met you when we were all fifties kids.

David, love to the best fifties kid of all.

David was an amazing soul. I first met him 13 years ago and had spent many of evenings with him and Gwen. I miss those days. It's been a long time since I have seen either of them but I think of them so very often. I feel blessed by those times as they shaped the adult woman, mom, and wife that I am today and am forever thankful. Rest in Peace David and God be with you Gwen. May he fill you with comfort and peace.
