Obituary

Larry and his twin brother Harry were born January 6, 1936 (Harry passed away a few months after birth) They were born nine years to the day after older brother Bill, (now deceased) . The Klumb men were in the masonry business for several years. Chet Klumb owned Klumb's Masonry and built the Serpentine setting walls down Grand Junction Main Street. Larry later went into business for himself owning Klumbs lighting and Kitchens in 1972-2002. He was very active in Colorado Home Builders Association.
A baseball catcher, skier and golfer Larry was known for his athletic prowess from his sophomore to senior year at Grand Junction High School. He was named All-State catcher in 1953 and 1954. He was the catcher for the Grand Junction Eagles from 1954-1961; the Semi-Pro baseball team placed 5th in the U.S. in a series played in Wichita Kansas.
Larry got his BA degree in education at University of Northern Colorado (UNC) and was named catcher of All District Seven of the National College Athletic Association in 1957 and 1958 in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Arkansas. In 1958 he was named NCAA "All American Catcher", playin in ttwo NCAA World Series with UNC in Omaha Nebraska. Larry was also honored by being named to the Sports Hall of Fame at UNC.
He was a full certified professional ski instructor, and taught for seven years at Loveland Basin Ski School. He founded the ski school at Powderhorn Ski Resort and later became general manager. He built the No. 2 lift and expanded many ski runs on the Grand Valley Ski attraction.
Larry loved laughing out loud, moving to the music, good company and international travel. His self deprecating sense of humor enamored him to many.
Larry is survived by his sister, Vicki, her husband, Tom Powers and their children David and Kelly. Brother Bill"s children , Will (Lori), Odette (Dave), George and John (Pam) and several nieces and nephews.
