I am so sorry to find out about this, I have been concerned about Lou. My utmost condolences to his family and his friends.
I have known Lou for over 17 years and he is my friend. I would appreciate if anyone wanted to reach out to me and share stories or memories.
I first met Mr. Buettner in 2004 when he did a survey on our property. I called him Mr. Buettner when he worked for me, out of respect and professionalism, but our friendship developed so I call him Lou. My parents, my children and many of my friends knew him, and enjoyed visiting with him, because he would attend our annual St. Patrick's Day party. He was such a nice man and would share his various trip adventures with me and was always willing to share his wealth of surveying knowledge. We planned to take train trips around Colorado together, but then Covid19 happened. Lou was such a wonderful gentleman and I believe many people cared about him. I would love to put together something for his memory as he lived in the Aspen Valley for decades and many people knew him. I am hoping to connect with others that knew him as I believe he left an impression on everyone that he came in contact with. I cannot believe that I will not have Lou to call or visit, to get information from, or to chat with and hear about what trip he was planning or what big project he was consulting on. He shared with me his idea of a phone chain for elderly in order to help people check in with one another, this was before Covid19! He had great ideas for the seniors in the valley, another idea was to buy in bulk together and then split things out, he was always thinking and was very intelligent. Lou Buettner is a wonderful man and I will hold him in my heart forever as I know many others will too.
Thank you for your time. My Sincere Condolences, Pam Wood
