Peggy Jean Habermacher, age 92 passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 10, 2021. She was just 18 days away from reaching her 93rd birthday.
Peggy was born January 28, 1928 in San Diego, CA where she grew up on the beaches swimming daily in the ocean. Her love of water and animals stayed with her throughout her life.

She attended Hollywood High, graduated San Diego State with a degree in physical education and married and gave birth to 7 children. In later life, she moved to AZ where the desert captured her heart and mind. Over the past five years, while her health declined, she resided in the mountains of Colorado and enjoyed the majestic views where she could daily, “climb the mountains with my eyes!”

Peggy loved to love people and sang and taught in the Churches of Wickenburg for over 40 years. Always caring and helping others, Peggy devoted herself selflessly to sharing and giving anything she had with everyone she encountered; she was truly loved by all. She is survived by 4 children,12 grandchildren, and1great granddaughter.

This picture was taken when I was a caregiver for Peggy.  I remember we would sit on the outdoor swing together and talk, take walks to the mailbox, play with the kitties and sing. She used to call me Red, and it was always said with such a smile.  She was always positive and very high spirits. She loved the mountains, and she loved being there with Denise. Miss Peggy felt like family. I will cherish the memories we shared. She left a mark on my heart.
Love to you Denise, Emilie

It seems downright miraculous that your mother lived lived so long. Maybe it was the brandy but more likely it was the extraordinary love and care that you bestowed upon a woman who was not always easy despite her at times charming ways.

More than that it may have been your ability to forgive a woman perhaps not well suited for parenthood.

I think I've said it before but if there is a heaven, you are guaranteed an admission ticket and a place in the front of the line.

It makes me happy to know that you had one more family Christmas together. I am sure that meant the world to her.

Take good care of yourself. The world needs people like you (just not too many). :)

Dear Denise and family,
We are sad with you at the passing of your dear Momma, but we rejoice knowing she is receiving her reward from the Lord Jesus. We have fond memories of her gentle nature and regal bearing. We do have a video of her singing from October 27, 2017. She sang along with the group on 'You Are My Sunshine " and we just got the end of "God Bless America" when she hit the high note. You will be in our prayers,
Bob and Rita

My condolences to you and your family Denise. I remember 2 things in particular. First is that Peggy always made me feel like I was the most important person in the world and that she had been waiting all day to see me. Her smile was massive; her words could not have been more kind - and often humerous. Secondly is that she spent her final days at home, at piece, in comfort and love. She was in a complex and difficult place- but the effectiveness of her care was exceptional. It seemed to be guided by a spiritual connection that had been forged between the two of you. Peace be with you and your family.
