Obituary for Roger Paul VOTRUBA
Roger Paul Votruba was born June 29, 1963 and went to join the Lord on May 1, 2021 after a short illness.
Roger was born in Wessington Springs, South Dakota to Dolly L. (Mapes) and Delbert W. Votruba he was the 5th child out of 6.
Roger and his family moved to Grand Junction in April, 1964 and he spent his life in the Grand Junction area. He attended Lincoln Orchard Mesa Grade School, Orchard Mesa Junior High, and Graduated from Central High School.
Roger married Kathleen Klocker in October, 1989 they were later divorced.
Roger worked at Rainbow Roller Rink, Gibson’s in Clifton, Sears for 29 years until they closed, and for the past 2 years at Home Depot.
Roger enjoyed many activities in his life including bicycle riding, bowling, skiing, water skiing, hiking, roller skating, snowmobiling, and ATV riding.
Roger adored his boys Paul Edward Votruba and Shawn Gregory Votruba. He loved being with them, and he was very proud of both of them and their accomplishments. He recently became a Granddad and was looking forward to getting to know little Cooper.
Roger loved people and one of his greatest joys was making someone smile. He said hello to everyone and asked how their day was. If anyone needed help Roger would do anything he could to assist them. If there was not enough help to accomplish something he would recruit friends and family to complete the job.
Roger loved all of his family, but he had a truly deep love for children and they adored him back. He had a very close relationship with several of his nieces and nephews, and their children. They were always happy to see Uncle Roger.
Roger was an active member of the Canyon View Vineyards Church, and believed that we should all pursue a relationship with God.
Roger is proceeded in death by his father Delbert Votruba.
Roger is survived by his sons Paul (Amelia) Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Shawn (Kara), grandson Cooper, mother Dolly Votruba, Brothers William “Bill” (Linda) of Grand Junction, CO, Michael (Amy) Pine Bluffs, WY, Edward “Ed” (Elaine) Phoenix, AZ, Marcus (Belinda) Leigh, NE, sister Joella Murphy (JR) Tucson, AZ, many nieces and nephews, lots of aunts & uncles, and numerous cousins.
Services will be held Tuesday May 11, 2021 5:00 PM at Canyon View Vineyards Church 736 24 Road, Grand Junction, CO.
