Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Richard Werner, age 52, passed away May 12, 2020 at his home in Grand Junction, Colorado. Chuck was born in Denver, Colorado, and was adopted as a baby by Ray and Patricia Werner. He grew up in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. From a young age, he enjoyed all things outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, hiker, Boy Scout and athlete. He also was dedicated to multiple forms of martial arts and professional fighting
He enlisted in the US Army in 2006 and served as a Combat Medic. As one of the oldest enlistees in his unit, he was given the nickname “Pops” by his younger, fellow soldiers. Charles served his country stateside and also overseas in combat deployments. He was a well respected leader, teacher and motivator among the units he served with. Some of the greatest times of happiness for him were the time spent serving with his brothers and sisters in the military. He attained the rank of Sergeant before receiving an Honorable Discharge and retired from the Army in 2016.
After retiring from the Army, Chuck moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to attend college and enjoy his free time outdoors in the mountains. After a few years there, he moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where he most recently resided.
Charles is survived by his daughter-Hannah, sister, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

We were young and our Grandparents took us water skiing. Chuck hopped off the boat to start skiing and he was back in the boat before anyone knew. It was the fastest exit out of the water I have ever seen. Of course he stated us girls could go first but in reality he thought the water was cold. Fun times camping and on the lake with the family.
