Obituary for Robert Erwin Hunter
Robert Erwin Hunter,
Born Feb. 4th 1934 to Erwin Whitfield Hunter and Gertrude Hunter, passed away on Aug.5th 2018 from natural causes. Robert lived in Durango and then moved to Westminster, Co. until 1950 when he moved with his mother to Eugene Oregon where he finished High School and graduated in 1952. He joined the Air Force in 1953 and rose to the rank of Staff Sargent as an airplane maintenance mechanic. He left the Air Force in 1957 and joined his father Erwin ( Duke ) Hunter and his brother Richard in the family business, Hunter the Typewriter Man as a type writer repair man. In 1959 Robert was hired at the 1st National Bank of Riverton as a book keeper. He quickly rose to the position of cashier and then head cashier and eventually Cashier/Vice President. Robert was instrumental in changing the bank over from the manual book keeping system to the automated computer system in the early 1960's. Robert continued his banking career until 1975 when he joined Farmers Ins. Group as an agent and then a District Manager in Pueblo, Co.
Robert is proceeded in death by his father Erwin "Duke" Hunter, his mother Gertrude Ingram, his brother Richard ( Dick ) Hunter, also his step mother Bertha Hunter and step father Clarence Ingram, grandsons Michael Hehr, Logan and Wyatt Hunter.
Robert was an active member of the community serving in the Masons, Shriners Kiwanis Club, Riverton JayCees, and the President of the Riverton Chamber of Commerce and Attended the Riverton Presbyterian Church. His interests included Golf, Pheasant hunting, Fishing, Bowling and computers.
Robert is survived by Nancy Hunter and three children, Mark, Becky and Kevin. Their wives Misty and Dawn, and husband Brent. Their children Ashley, Lindsey, Shelby, Gage, Parker, Ryan and Zane. Great grandchildren Ethan, Emerie and Liam.
Family Service will be held Aug. 10 2018 at 2 pm. He will have full Military Internment Ceremony Tueday Aug. 14 th 2018 at 10 a.m.
